This icon of Christ raising Lazarus from the dead was created by Meridith Schifsky and with proceeds donated to Contemplative Outreach in a silent auction here at the conference. Blessings Meridith and thank you for the fruits of your contemplative prayer -

The new DVD series with Fr. Thomas entitled "Heartfulness: Transformation in Christ" is being featured here at the conference. The series contains all new material, insights and spiritual wisdom not heard before and as elicited by gifted interviewer Betty Sue Flowers. This is a superbly designed and heartful communication from Fr. Thomas and one that will surely add to his spiritual legacy. Here are a few lines that especially caught my ear:
Nothing is more beautiful than the uniqueness
that God has created.… You don't have to create the beauty
- you’ve got the beauty.… You don't have to create the freedom
- you’ve got it. … You don't have to create the image of God in you
- you have it.… You don't have to win over God’s love
- you have more than you know what to do with.Thomas Keating, 'Centering Prayer,'

The Circle of Service is a two-year experiment of Contemplative Outreach that is exploring a contemplative rather than a "corporate" approach to organizational leadership and "governance" (sustenance). Several members of the Circle of Service arrived at the conference early - Susan Rush, Bonnie Shimizu, Carl Arico, Marie Howard, David Musykens, Gail Fitzpatrick-Hopler, Mark Nowak and Ron Barnett - and they took a boat tour on the Chicago River that featured the architectural history of Chicago's finest downtown structures. While the weather was overcast and there was a low cloud ceiling, the rain held-off and the tour was great. The following snaps were taken on the way to and during the tour.
Tommorow the conference begins officially with an Orientation for newcomers at 3:00 pm. More conference news, reflections and happenings to come here on CO2009.
